Once a week after school, Grandma would walk to the church to attend Primary. On Sundays, she would go to Sunday School in the morning and Sacrament meeting in the afternoon. Her dad served 12 years in the stake presidency, and her mom taught Sunday School and Relief Society. The entire family attended church every week.

  Dan's Store Site Address:  93 W Center St, Kanab, UT 84741 This is where Grandma's family went grocery shopping.  She would stop by here on her way home and buy chocolate chips on her parents' store account (an old-fashioned kind of credit card). When her dad came home from working on the range, he would munch on the chocolate chip cookies. The store was owned  by Dan Frost, who was Great Grandpa Fred E Heaton's friend.

Grandma Slade's Childhood Home Address:  160 N 200 W, Kanab, UT 84741 Grandma broke her front teeth when she fainted in the driveway.   She made her dad homemade bread when her mom was in the hospital in Salt Lake.

Kanab Library

Kanab Library Address:  13 N 100 E, Kanab, UT 84741 The schools did not have a library. This was the only library in town. Grandma would stop here after school and get books including Nancy Drew, the Hardy Boys, Little Women and others.
